The following is the list of the categories and descriptions for all of our Awards. We are grateful to each of our sponsors for the their financial, promotion and expertise support. Without them, the Awards simply would not happen.
CIBSE Yorkshire Region Project of Year
This Award recognises the new build or refurbishment of a building project within the many construction sectors that has most effectively demonstrated high levels of project deliverables for the client. These deliverables may include some or all of the following:- An exceptional or outstanding building in terms of the overall design approach and solutions, client satisfaction through delivering projects on time and on budget; correct interpretation of the client brief; team collaboration at all project stages; added value management and efficiency through innovation; outstanding or exemplary results for key performance indicators or measurement methods such as commissioning results, design stage and as built energy performance targets and possible BREEAM ratings or LEED.
The submitted projects of the year have been divided into POTY Education sponsored by ARBE, POTY Office sponsored by Mansfield Pollard and POTY Retail sponsored by Brentwood
CIBSE Yorkshire Region - Consultancy of the Year
This Award has been divided in to the following categories:
- Small Consultancy of the Year sponsored by Ideal Boilers

Large Consultancy of the Year sponsored by Dimplex
This award recognises the consultancy which has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the design or refurbishment of buildings to meet or exceed client expectations of project deliverables in accordance with the project specific appointment. These deliverables may include some or all of the following:- client satisfaction through delivering projects on time and on budget; correct interpretation of the client brief; team collaboration at all project stages; added value management and efficiency through innovation; outstanding or exemplary results for key performance indicators or measurement methods such as commissioning results, design stage and as built energy performance targets and possibly BREEAM ratings or LEED.
CIBSE Yorkshire Region - Contractor of the Year
- Contractor of the year is sponsored by Anderson Green
This award recognises the importance of our contractors and their contribution into supporting and developing projects. This award looks to demonstrate the client’s contribution and engagement with the construction team on either a refurbishment or a new build project. These contributions may include some or all of the following:- assisting with team performance (delivering projects on time and on budget); driving team collaboration at all project stages; clear briefing with added value from past experience.
CIBSE Yorkshire Region - Collaborative Working Partnership
- Collaborative working partnership sponsored by Trox
This award recognises examples of collaborative working that have delivered outstanding outcomes on one or more new build or refurbishment projects. It rewards integrated processes such as BIM coupled with effective team working that deliver comfortable, sustainable, energy efficient buildings that satisfy the needs of the organisations and people who use them.
CIBSE Yorkshire Region - Manufacturers Award
- Manufacturers award sponsored by SES
This award recognises the achievements of Yorkshire based manufacturers and their products that are either produced, designed or sold from facilities within the region. It is for new and/or innovative products that make a difference through reduced energy and resource use, or simpler/safer installation and maintenance.
CIBSE Yorkshire Region - Apprentice / Young Engineer and Graduate Engineer Award
This Award has been divided in to the following categories:
- Young Engineer of Year Award for people with up to HND qualfications sponsored by Daikin

Graduate of the Year Award for people who have completed or are working towards a degree or PhD in the work place sponsor Kingspan
Both awards recognise the importance of our developing talent as they progress through to accomplished engineers and to individuals who have excelled and show promise in the area of building services.
CIBSE Yorkshire Region - Student Awards
- The Student awards are sponsored by Hoare Lea
The Award is to be nominated by the Education Establishment for a single student who is currently undertaking a Building Services Engineering and / or closely related course. We will be contacting Course Leaders at local universities and colleges for their nominations.
The Award will be given to one student from each establishment who has shown outstanding enthusiasm and hard work throughout this academic year (2017/2018).
All entries should be from Yorkshire based organisations with building services teams whether they are classed as in house, FM, contracting or consultancy, or the Yorkshire office of organisations with multiple offices, and be based on the building services studied or delivered during the period 1st January 2017 – 31st December 2017.
