I have taken the liberty of sharing the following information on a Construction Excellence event on 29th January.
As you are all, hopefully!!, aware I am passionate about engagement of our industry in Schools, and this initiative is a fantastic way of doing it.
NG Bailey have already adopted a local school, and CIBSE Yorkshire Region with further HQ support is looking to part sponsor a further school.
Class of Your Own (COYO) is a Social Business whose aim is to inspire all young people to reach their full potential through world class education and opportunity.
COYO has developed the Design Engineer Construct! Learning Programme to offer teachers and learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and knowledge fundamental to successful engagement in the professional aspects of the Construction and Built Environment sector of industry. The suite of a qualifications is accredited across three progressive levels, and recognised for school league table points.
Already being delivered to a number of schools throughout the country, the programme is now making its way to Sheffield. Currently there are 18 schools in Sheffield alone who wish to take up the course, giving hundreds of children the opportunity to access 21st century qualifications which promote routes into professional careers.
The Sheffield framework will include provision for students and parents to learn together, with the help of key industry players, and has the support of major organisations throughout the City Region.
